Further Considerations on Residual-free Bubbles for Advective-diffusive Equations

چکیده
We further consider the Galerkin method for advective-diiusive equations in two-dimensions. The nite dimensional space employed is of piecewise polynomials enriched with residual-free bubbles (RFB). We show that, in general, this method does not coincide with the SUPG method, unless the piecewise polynomials are spanned by linear functions. Furthermore a simple stability analysis argument displays the eeect of the RFB on the reduced space of piecewise polynomials, which is not equivalent to streamline diiusion for bilinears, in some situations.

On Petrov-galerkin Formulations for the Linear Hyperbolic Equation
We consider conforming Petrov-Galerkin formulations for the advective and advec-tive-diiusive equations. For the linear hyperbolic equation, the continuous formulation is set up using diierent spaces and the discretization follows with diierent \bubble" enrichments for the test and trial spaces. Boundary conditions for residual-free bubbles are modiied to accommodate with the rst order equation...
متن کاملThree-dimensional Free Vibration Analysis of a Transversely Isotropic Thermoelastic Diffusive Cylindrical Panel
The present paper is aimed to study an exact analysis of the free vibrations of a simply supported, homogeneous, transversely isotropic, cylindrical panel based on three-dimensional generalized theories of thermoelastic diffusion. After applying the displacement potential functions in the basic governing equations of generalized thermoelastic diffusion, it is noticed that a purely transverse mo...

In this work we study coupled incompressible viscous flow and advective-diffusive transport of a scalar. Both the Navier-Stokes and transport equations are solved using an Eulerian approach. The SUPG/PSPG stabilized finite element formulation is applied for the governing equations. The implementation is held using the libMEsh finite element library which provides support for parallel adaptive m...

This article presents an introduction to multiscale and stabilized methods, which represent unified approaches to modeling and numerical solution of fluid dynamic phenomena. Finite element applications are emphasized but the ideas are general and apply to other numerical methods as well. متن کاملHigh-Order Hyperbolic Residual-Distribution Schemes on Arbitrary Triangular Grids
In this paper, we construct high-order hyperbolic residual-distribution schemes for general advection-diffusion problems on arbitrary triangular grids. We demonstrate that the second-order accuracy of the hyperbolic schemes can be greatly improved by requiring the scheme to preserve exact quadratic solutions. We also show that the improved secondorder scheme can be easily extended to the third-...
